In The Fastest 4 Seconds, retired Sergeant Jay "Packy" Dempsey tells the true story of a split-second encounter that changed his life forever. What began as a routine disturbance call in Selma, Alabama, turned into a violent struggle for survival, forcing Packy to make a life-or-death decision in mere moments. Luckily, his K-9, Princess, who he bought as a puppy and trained on his own, was there to intervene, giving Packy enough time to defend himself.
More than a police story, this memoir traces the road that led Packy to the badge, the bond with his K-9 that helped save his life, and the unseen emotional cost of employing deadly force in the line of duty. Raw, honest, and deeply human, The Fastest 4 Seconds is a story of miracles, duty, survival, trauma, and healing.
